United We Stand - What to Expect in the 2020 Election

With Trump supporters screaming for another term and critics crossing their fingers for the Democrats, the 2020 election has never seemed more intense. Many Americans see the next election as a chance to start new, clean the slate, and elect a new, often more liberal, president.
      Here's the issue.
In 2016, the Republican primaries seemed borderline embarrassing; each candidate was more random than the last, Trump taking the cake. He won in a landslide, and moved on to attack Clinton in the presidential race.
      The Democrats, however, were different.
Only two main candidates battled it out towards the end of the primaries, and the battle was quite the sight. Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton debated, argued, and advertised day after day. If not for the superdelegates, there was a real chance that Bernie could have stolen the primaries.
Then, in the presidential race, with all the odds in Clinton's favor, Trump became president.
      Why?
When Clinton and Bernie debated, they tore the Democratic party into two subdivisions. The Democrats still shared the same main values, but the especially liberal ones (mostly Millennials) tended to lean towards Bernie, while the rest went for Clinton. However, the Republican party was united behind Donald Trump, with nearly no fight given against him.
A united party will consistently defeat a divided one, and that's just what the Republicans did.
I am perfectly aware that many Republicans were (and still are) against Trump, but they never actually gave him any opposition. Approval rating for Trump is 90% among the Republicans as of today.
We all know that Trump will run for a second term, but what can the Democrats do to defeat him?
      One word: unite.
The Democrats need to throw all of their support behind one major candidate in order to take down Donald Trump. Even if that means sacrificing a slightly better one, liberals must focus on defeating the enemy instead of being choosy with their own members.
If the Democratic party fails to come together, Trump will take office again. If Republicans actually begin to oppose the president, the Democrats can take back the reins.
Get your popcorn ready, folks. The 2020 election is going to be quite the brawl.

Introductions

      Greetings and salutations, everybody.
My (pen) name is Jenn March, and in this blog, I hope to host a civil discussion about modern politics, mostly in America. I've always been fascinated by the world inhabited by senators, presidents, and the type, but I'm not one to join it myself. So, by process of elimination, writing about politics seems like the best way to go.
Each week will be a new topic that I will discuss, using statistics and stating my resources. Comments will be replied to, and friendly debate in the section is much appreciated.
Here's the main rule to follow while reading my blog:
Any comments that are rude or offensive will be deleted.
I don't care if you disagree with me - in fact, I love talking about different arguments against or for the same topic. But calling me, or someone else, an idiot (or any other derogatory term) is simply mean.
I hope to bring a new perspective to the political world. Happy reading!
